After a friendly welcome from Laura or Diana to Crazy Kiln, you choose an item from our large array of bisqueware (unglazed cerramic ware) and get creating. Pieces available to paint include: plates, mugs, bowls, money boxes, planters, tiles, photograph frames and many more. Our non‐toxic, water based paints are suitable for all ages. Should you need some inspiration we have a number of books that will help fire your imagination, or you could browse the internet for ideas. We also have stencils, stamps and even ceramic tracing paper to help you realise your design.

Once your painting is complete we will carefully dip your decorated piece in a transparent glaze and fire it in the crazy kiln, to a temperature of 1,000°C. Your masterpiece will be ready for collection no more than a week later. However, if you can't wait a week many items can be decorated with acrylic paints and you get to take your pottery home the same day. Please ask us about acrylics.

Prices start from as little as £3 and unlike many ceramic studios Crazy Kiln do not charge a studio fee. A typical visit will last 1 to 2 hours and you can enjoy a cup of tea, herbal tea, coffee, hot chocolate or fruit juice whilst you relax and paint.
